A CHRISTMAS cracker of entertainment is promised for people visiting Ascot Racecourse this weekend.
Its final race meeting of the year is not only the most valuable meeting of the jumps season, but it’s also packed with people wearing Christmas jumpers.
Two days of activities take place on Friday, December 22, and Saturday, December 23.
There will be six races each day. Friday includes the Grade 2 Howden Noel Novices’ Chase, won by subsequent Cheltenham Festival winners Simonsig and Politologue in the past.
Saturday’s card is headlined by the Grade 1 Howden Long Walk Hurdle, with the likes of Big Buck’s, Thistlecrack and Paisley Park on the recent roll of honour.
And the fun isn’t just on the track. There will be a host of festive entertainment for younger visitors.
It includes candlelit carol singing with the Ascot Brass Band, a visit from Father Christmas on Saturday, and plenty of surprises.
On both days, gates open at 10.45am, with the first race at 12.05pm and the final one at 3.35pm.
Tickets cost £20 on Friday and £30 on Saturday, with free entry for accompanied under 18s.
