Reading Athletics Ladies Seniors tackle tough course at Aldershot – Reading Today Online

READING ATHLETICS LADIES tackled the mud and rain to make a promising start to their XC season at Aldershot.

The athletes task was made even tougher when the heavens opened as they approached the start line.

With 13 seniors representing Reading, Anna Godfrey opened up her 2023/24 XC campaign with a brilliant showing to take 20th position.

Sue Francis was next to finish and built on her showing at Wormwood Scrubs last weekend and took 25th.

Lizzy Jeffrey was the next Reading representative to finish as she earned 59th in her debut race for the club before Helen Antram followed closely behind in 61st.

The next three finishers for Reading AC finished three in a row with Lucy Daniells in 64th after an excellent sprint finish, Shirley-Ann Dix in 65th and Angel Langlade in 66th.

Kathryn Tolson performed valiantly after her Berlin Marathon and ended in 86th, while Amandine Joubert was just behind in 87th.

Next to finish for RAC was Millie Dainton in 99th. Alisa Loyal took 102nd after a powerful second lap to move up the field and Amelia Wing ended in 106th.

Rachel Phillips was competing in her first XC in two years and finished in 108th.

The team were grateful for the support of their coach Debbie Taylor and described her support as ‘invaluable’, while they also thanked race organiser Sarah Holmes.
