Reading defeat Kingfisher F to take control of Division Two title race – Reading Today Online

In the match featuring the top two sides Division Two, title favourites Reading FC beat Kingfisher F 8-2 with Michael Childs recording his eighth maximum of the season and recent signing Tom Lewis also having a maximum.

Our Lady of Peace A moved up to third place with a 6-4 win over Tilehurst RBL B with Darek Kaminski getting an impressive maximum for the OLOP team.

In the Tidmarsh local derby the B team overcame the C team 8-2 with maximums for Barry Carter and recent signing Rob McMillan. Springfield A had a good 7-3 win at Pangbourne WMC with Captain Jason King getting a maximum.

The set between Pangbourne’s Clive Taylor and Matt Hickmann included a remarkable game which Clive won 21-19 as he went on to win the contest 21-19 7-11 11-8 12-10.

In division One, Kingfisher C proved too strong for Sonning Common & Peppard D with Alan Cummings, Matt Isherwood and Nigel Keedy all getting maximums in a 10-0 win.

Six points now separates the bottom four teams as the season approaches its halfway point, while at the top Kingfisher A have a one point advantage over Kingfisher B with a match in hand, and Sonning Common & Peppard A a further seven points adrift but still in the hunt.

After the cup break it was another busy week in division3. Tilehurst Methodists B drew with OLOP D 5-5.

Despite James Smith’s treble, OLOP D could not win the match. Losing the doubles made all the difference between winning and the draw. Sonning Common & Peppard E beat Tilehurst Methodists C 7-3.

Player of the Match was Jim Warren after his treble helped his team to a comfortable win. Kingfisher I had another good win against a tough team Tidmarsh D. Huzeyfe Borazan and Eyup Odemis both got hat-tricks which helped their Kingfisher team win 8-2.

The highlight of the match was Eyup Odemis winning his last game in the fifth set and deuce against Ray Webb. In an OLOP club derby OLOP C beat their OLOP B comrades 7-3.

With this win OLOP C closed the gap a little at the top and showed they are strong contenders for the promotion.

Pradeep Desh was the star of the match with his treble, but the highlight of the match was the nail-biting doubles game where OLOP C won the game in the fifth set 15-13.

OLOP D won their re-scheduled match against Sonning Common & Peppard E by a convincing 9-1 margin.

All the OLOP D players got maximums and their only loss came from the doubles game. Sonning Sports B won their match against Kingfisher J 6-4 by winning the very last game of the night.

This match was the closest Kingfisher team have come to gaining a win or a draw. The Star of the match was again Eapen John who got another treble for Kingfisher.

Division Four leaders Sonning Sports D beat their C team clubmates 6-4 to remain clear at the top, James Miller with another maximum. Second placed Sonning Common & Peppard F were also 6-4 winners as they beat Springfield B, mainly thanks to another maximum from Graeme Streets.

Kingfisher K beat one time leaders Tilehurst RBL C 6-4. In a very tight and evenly fought match there were 44 games played with no one gaining a treble. Kingfisher L had a nice 7-3 win at Sonning Common & Peppard G, Mehmet Bilgin did well to gain a hat trick for the birds, while the OLOP derby between OLOP E and OLOP F ended in a 5-5 draw, Pat Daniels for the E team won all of his three.
