READING FC came from behind to defeat high-flying Bolton Wanderers 2-1 at the SCL Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Trotters took the lead through Dion Charles, but the Royals rallied in the second-half scoring through Charlie Savage and Caylan Vickers.

David Button 7: Made some smart reflex saves to keep Reading in the game after conceding. Distribution could have been better, but a generally strong performance.

Andy Yiadom 6: Was impressed by the skipper. Made some crucial defensive interventions throughout the afternoon, covering for Bindon when required.

Tyler Bindon 6: Took some time to dust the cobwebs off after a few weeks out injured, finding it hard to keep up with the physicality of his match-ups, but really grew into the game.

Nelson Abbey 7: Another strong display from the defender. Excelled in his duels and offered stability at the heart of Reading’s back-line.

Clinton Mola 6: A laboured first start for the left-back. Struggled to cut off the cross and got caught too far up the pitch on a number of occasions.

Charlie Savage 7: Took his goal brilliantly, stroking the ball home from the edge of the box. A steady display from the midfielder who kept things ticking over in the centre of the park.

Sam Hutchinson 7: Played the quarterback role, spraying the ball over the top and between the lines.

Harvey Knibbs 6.5: A livewire down Reading’s left and forced mistakes out of Bolton.

Femi Azeez 7: Came close to equalising when he cannoned a shot from range onto the crossbar. Looked to get forward whenever possible and was generally very positive.

Dom Ballard 6: A steady debut for the young striker. Came close to scoring with a curled effort from the edge of the box and wasn’t afraid to pull the trigger.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan 5: Wasn’t given a lot to work with today in what was a rather subdued performance from the frontman.

Substitutes:

Paul Mukairu 5: Forced Baxter into an impressive reflex save and offered a good amount of energy.

Ben Elliott 8: Added something different after entering the fray and, in many ways, changed the game.

Tom McIntyre 6: Solid. Kept Dacres-Cogley relatively quiet down Reading’s left.

Amadou Mbengue 7: Did brilliantly to set up the winning goal. An excellent cameo.

Caylan Vickers 8: Finally got his first senior goal after coming close on a number of occasions.
