Royals look to fix long winless away run – Reading Today Online

Reading v Burton Albion

READING FC are looking to break a miserable run of games without a win on the road, stretching back to November 2022.

Ruben Selles’ side have so far been victorious twice away from home, both of which coming in cup competitions with thumping victories.

His team shocked Championship side Millwall at the Den with a 4-0 win in the Carabao Cup before they smashed nine in a clinical display past League One high flyers Exeter City in the EFL Trophy.

However, his side are yet to pick up any points on their travels in League One on four occasions.

Reading have lost at Port Vale, Exeter, Cambridge and Blackpool, but their long running dismal away form far predates the appointment of Selles.

The Royals last won in the league away from home at Hull City in November 2022 courtesy of a last gasp own goal, which means they have gone 16 games since their last win on the road.

Standing between them and breaking that run on Tuesday night is 17th placed Northampton Town.

The Cobblers have picked up 10 points from their opening nine games with three wins a draw and five defeats.

Northampton have lost their last two home matches, however they did pick up an impressive win at Exeter on Saturday to dent the Grecians’ hopes of moving back into the top three.

They have made a reasonable start to life in League One having been promoted from League Two last campaign having finished in third place.

Reading predicted line-up: Button, Yiadom, Dean, Abbey, Bindon, Hutchinson, Savage, Elliott, Knibbs, Ballard, Ehibhatiomhan
