CIANJUR, Telkom University – Deep sorrow is being experienced by our brothers and sisters in Cianjur, West Java. Early last week (21/11) an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 was rocked by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 which has befallen many victims.
As a form of solidarity, Telkom University (Tel-U) dispatched a team of volunteers consisting of students, staff, and lecturers to help victims in Cianjur. Tel-U also together with TelkomGroup assisted in the form of daily needs needed by disaster victims and opened an aid post located in the Telkom Cianjur plaza.
As a campus that excels in innovation, Tel-U also sent its superior innovation product, namely the Mobile Cognitive Radio Base Station (MCRBS) to capture communication signals in disaster-affected areas.
MCRBS is a portable Base Station with components consisting of towers, antennas, power systems, and control systems so that they can be easily moved as needed (for example installed in a disaster management car). MCRBS is designed to be able to capture signals from various communication generations and is given the ability to be able to “connect” disaster areas with safe areas so that communication can be established and rescue actions can be carried out more effectively and efficiently.
Apart from being successful in providing internet communication and data connections, the design and design of the latest MCRBS is capable of being self-sufficient in terms of power with the help of generators, batteries, and solar panels. So it can be used in areas that are not accessible to electricity.
“The presence of MCRBS in Cianjur is to help restore the network as well as carry out rescue actions for disaster victims.” Said Dr. Eng. Khoirul Anwar as Director of Advanced Intelligent Comms. (AICOMS) Telkom University.
Rector of Telkom University, Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya when sending off the group at the Bangkit Building, Tuesday (22/11) conveyed his enthusiasm and support for the team that will carry out this humanitarian mission, hopefully, the presence of the Tel-U volunteer team there can help a lot to ease the burden on the victims’ families.
