READING FC’s Women’s Championship game with Birmingham City on Sunday has been postponed due to a break of illness.

Following the Royals cup tie with Wolverhampton last weekend, which was played at Aldershot’s EBB Stadium, several members from both teams picked up illnesses.

A statement released by the club reads: “It is with regret that we announce the postponement of Sunday’s match against Birmingham City.

The decision to postpone the match comes as a result of an unfortunate outbreak of illness within our camp following Sunday’s match against Wolves, the team has been unable to train this week due to the widespread impact on both players and staff members.

“The health and well-being of our players and staff are of the utmost importance to the Club, and in light of the ongoing situation, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the match. Both clubs are now working collaboratively to agree on a new date for the fixture.

“We sincerely apologise to our fans for any inconvenience caused, especially to those who have purchased tickets or matchday experiences for the original date. The Club will be in contact with further details and arrangements in due course.
