READING FC Ruben Selles manager says that midfielder Ovie Ejaria needs to show more ‘commitment’ if he is to feature for his side.
It is approaching a full calendar year since Ejaria last featured for the Royals under manager Paul Ince in the Championship last November.
Since then, Ejaria has failed to make a single appearance and has been sidelined with both injury issues and alleged attitude problems.
“He had this process when we arrived at the club where he was injured,” said Selles.
“He has been injured until the middle of September so we built him up with the under 21s and then expected him to get his form and then decide.
“Right now he is not injured and is building up form to be able to play football matches.”
Despite Ejaria not being out with an injury, Selles admitted that he needs to improve his attitude and commitment if he is to feature for the first-team anytime soon.
He continued: “ He needs to show that he wants to play for us and show he is fully ready.
“It’s about him needing to show he wants to play and do the things for this football club. He needs to be fully fit to play football matches which is why he is with the under 21s.
“We will then review if the commitments are really what we want and he will play if we decide he can play.
“He needs to show a lot if he will play for me. He still has a long way to go.”
